The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has issued formal certificates of expulsion to the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, and 10 other members earlier sanctioned by the party for various offences.
The party’s National Chairman, Tanimu Turaki, disclosed this on Tuesday while briefing journalists after a National Working Committee (NWC) meeting in Abuja.
Turaki said those affected include the embattled National Secretary, Samuel Anyanwu; the party’s Legal Adviser, Kamarudeen Ajibade; former Ekiti State Governor, Ayodele Fayose; and several others expelled during the party’s national convention in Ibadan; Mao Ohuabunwa, Austin Nwachukwu, Abraham Amah Nnanna, George Turna, and Dan Orbih.
He recalled that the decision to expel the members was ratified at the PDP National Convention held in Ibadan, Oyo State, on November 15, 2025, after delegates unanimously adopted motions citing gross misconduct, sabotage, and collaboration with the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).
Turaki said the expulsion certificates have already been dispatched to the individuals via courier to serve as official proof of their exit from the party.“We have taken note of the fact that Nigerian law frowns on dual membership of political parties, and so we sought to make it easy for them,” he said.
“Since the National Convention, the highest decision-making organ of our party, has expelled them, we decided to issue certificates of expulsion so they can present them when registering with other political parties.”
He added that the certificates would help prevent the affected individuals from being accused of retaining membership in two political parties simultaneously.
The party maintained that the move was part of its effort to strengthen internal discipline and reposition the PDP ahead of future political engagements.
