Muhammed Babangida, son of former military president, General Ibrahim Badamasi Babangida (rtd), has publicly affirmed his acceptance of his recent appointment by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu as Chairman of the Bank of Agriculture (BOA), dismissing viral claims suggesting otherwise.
The clarification comes in response to a letter circulated online by Dele Momodu, a chieftain of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), which falsely alleged that Muhammed had declined the federal appointment.
In a personally signed press statement on Monday, Babangida debunked the claim and expressed deep appreciation to President Tinubu for the confidence reposed in him.
“We wish to clarify that Muhammed gratefully accepts the appointment as Chairman of the Bank of Agriculture, as announced by the federal government, and extends his sincere appreciation to President Tinubu for the trust and confidence bestowed upon him,” the statement read.
He further described the misinformation as a calculated attempt to mislead the public and tarnish the image of the Tinubu administration.
“Those behind the fake publication will be identified and held accountable,” the statement warned. Muhammed also urged the public to remain vigilant and rely on credible sources for information.
President Tinubu had on Saturday announced several appointments, including that of Muhammed Babangida to head the revitalized BOA.
