The Lagos State Cooperative College (LASCOCO) has conferred honorary awards on the Deputy Chief of Staff to Lagos State Governor, Mr Sam Egube, former Vice-Chancellor of Lagos State University (LASU), Prof. Olanrewaju Fagbohun, SAN, and three others at its second convocation ceremony held on Wednesday.
The event, which took place at the college’s main auditorium in Agege, Lagos witnessed the graduation of over 200 students who successfully completed various diploma and certificate programmes in cooperative management and related studies at the institute.
Speaking at the ceremony, the Rector of the College, Mr. Akorede Ojomu, highlighted the institution’s progress in expanding cooperative education and promoting enterprise development in Lagos State.
He noted that the College, since its inception, has continued to fulfil its mandate of nurturing cooperative leaders equipped with both theoretical and practical skills to foster economic empowerment.
“Our graduates today are ambassadors of cooperative excellence. They are equipped to drive inclusive growth in their communities and contribute meaningfully to the economic agenda of Lagos State,” Ojomu said.
The five honorees were recognized for their outstanding contributions to cooperative development, public service, education, and community advancement.
Among them were: Mr. Sam Egube, for his strategic role in economic planning and support for institutional development in the cooperative sector; Prof. Olanrewaju Fagbohun, SAN, for his academic leadership and advocacy for inclusive and sustainable education; Mrs. Omobola Akinwale, a cooperative movement stalwart; Dr. Musa Oladele, an expert in cooperative finance;and Chief Esther Ajayi, for philanthropy and community economic empowerment.
Egube, in his goodwill message commended the college for its role in deepening financial literacy and cooperative culture.
“In a time when economic inclusion is paramount, the Lagos Cooperative College remains a critical driver of sustainable community enterprise,” he remarked.
