The Lagos State Police Command has arrested 150 suspected criminals and recovered 100 unregistered motorcycles, firearms, suspected stolen property and illicit drugs during a coordinated raid on criminal hideouts in the Igando-Idimu area as part of its ongoing Operation KO S’AYE.
The operation, conducted in the early hours of Sunday, targeted criminal hideouts at Boolar, Okofilling Bus Stop, Igando, and other identified black spots within the Area M, Idimu axis following credible intelligence.
According to the Police Public Relations Officer, Lagos State Command, SP Abimbola Adebisi, the clearance operation, which commenced at about 5:45 a.m., involved a joint team of operatives drawn from different formations of the command and was aimed at flushing out hoodlums and other criminal elements in the area.
Adebisi said exhibits recovered during the raid included one double-barrel gun, two single-barrel guns, one locally made double-barrel short gun, 100 unregistered motorcycles, 54 mobile phones, six generators suspected to have been stolen, two military camouflage uniforms, assorted charms, substances suspected to be Indian hemp and various quantities of illicit drugs.
”All the suspects are currently in Police custody, while investigations are ongoing to determine their individual culpability. Those found to have committed criminal offences will be charged to court accordingly,” she said.
Adebisi said the operation underscored the command’s determination to deny criminals safe haven in the state.
”The operation forms part of the sustained implementation of Operation KO S’AYE, which is designed to dismantle criminal hideouts, disrupt the activities of hoodlums and strengthen public safety across Lagos State,” she said.
She added that the Commissioner of Police, Lagos State Command, CP Tijani Fatai, had commended the operatives for their professionalism and dedication to duty and reaffirmed the command’s commitment to sustaining intelligence-led operations across the state.
”The Commissioner of Police has directed that these clearance operations will continue across Lagos State. We remain committed to ensuring that criminal elements have no safe haven while law-abiding residents go about their lawful activities without fear,” Adebisi said.
She also appealed to residents to continue supporting the police with timely and credible information capable of identifying criminal hideouts, apprehending offenders and enhancing public safety across the state.
